This document explains the factors that could impact the load time of an application.
Preparing to execute instructions
The load time is impacted by 2 factors:
1. How long it takes an UE application to load
The load time of an UE application is dependent on how the application was developed.
The same application could have a different load time, due to the developers decision on the contents richness, app structure, functionalities or the number of elements on the app.
The load time you can expect on Eagle 3D’s platform is roughly the same time or a bit longer than the load time of your app when run on a desktop.
Image 1. Loading progress of an UE app
If the application is properly developed, you can expect a load time in the 10-20 seconds range with our accelerated loading plan.
2. The loading phases of a new uploaded application
2.1. The acquiring/preparing/starting app phase
An app uploaded for the first time, will be downloaded to the Cloud as a first step to get stored in our Shared Drive.
The ‘’acquiring/preparing/starting app’’ phase, is the process of the downloading from the Cloud to the Texas machines. Hence, the longer loading time
2.2. The Starting app phase
For the streaming to take place, all of our stored in the Cloud apps need to be downloaded again to our GPUs in our Texas datacenter.
The ‘’Starting app’’ loading phase, is the process of streaming the application from our GPUs in the Texas datacenter. It is the process of connection after clicking on the URL.
This video is a live comparison between a first time uploaded application’s loading time and another that was uploaded a while back.
