In this section, you will learn how to test your application remotely within the same network.
We will use a mobile device for this test, but you can also use another computer.
What does “remotely” mean here?
-
The signaling server and application run on one machine
-
The application is streamed in a browser from another device (e.g., mobile or another PC) connected to the same network
Prerequisites
Before proceeding, make sure you have:
-
Successfully tested your app locally on your computer
-
Both devices (computer and mobile) connected to the same network
Step 1. Double click on the shortcut of the exe file to open it.
Don’t close the terminal for rest of the tutorial of this section
Step 2. Run “run_local.bat”
Follow the path below and click on “run_local.bat”:
Your project folder > Samples > PixelStreaming > WebServers > SignalingWebServer > platform_scripts > cmd > run_local.bat
Let’s say your project name is “MyProject2”, then the folder structure should be:
MyProject2 > Samples > PixelStreaming > WebServers > SignalingWebServer > platform_scripts > cmd > run_local.bat.
Step 3. You will see a command prompt.
Don’t close the terminal for rest of the tutorial of this section
Step 4. Go to your command prompt and type “ipconfig” and press “Enter” key.
Step 5. Copy IPV4 Address.
Step 6. Now use this copied address in your computer or mobile browser to stream locally hosted app.
Step 7. “CLICK TO START” to play the app.
Step 8. Your app will run locally in your browser.
Testing from a Different Network
If you want to test your application from a different network (outside your local network), you will need:
-
A static public IP address (or a domain)
-
Proper port forwarding configured on your router
-
Firewall rules allowing access to required ports
